Scottish Roadtrip: Castles, Rain and Monty Python

The next day was the long four-hour drive to Fort William, but we made a stop at Stirling castle. That was really cool, and I felt that this was the most Scottish person/tour guide. He said all the Scottish words and had the thickest accent. The castle was really cool but there were way too many tourists. Oh well. We had great views although it was weird there was one section that was gold but the rest was all worn grey so it kind of clashed. We also saw our first person playing the bagpipes, and he was only 10 and busking on the street.

After Stirling we went to  Doune Castle, where one of our favorite movies was filmed, Monty Python and The Holy Grail. Five scenes were all shot in the castle. When we took the audio guide at the end some of them had scenes in that certain room. Next we stopped only for a few minutes to admire the views. This was one of the few days that it was sunny and just perfectly completed the picture!

After a very long car ride we reached Fort William. This town was right on the water and we had a great view from our hotel. I personally really like Fort William. There was one big stretch down the middle with shops with everything and restaurants. After a while of walking we found a pub and first saw HP Brown Sauce. And we just had to laugh because on the side of the bottle it talked about how great it was and that HP Brown Sauce is a delicacy. As Americans we never heard of this and if you read it too, I am sure you would be amused as well.
